One Person Confirmed Dead Following Shooting in Anderson
ANDERSON, S.C. — Authorities in Anderson are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Friday night near the intersection of West Franklin Street and Murray Avenue, leaving one person confirmed dead and an entire community shaken.
According to the Anderson Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around in the area of West Franklin and Murray, a neighborhood just minutes from downtown. Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders and emergency medical personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police quickly secured the area, blocking off multiple streets as crime scene investigators worked through the night to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and piece together what led to the deadly encounter. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office has been notified and is working to identify the victim and notify next of kin.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have not released information on any potential suspects or motives.
